Beginners Guide: Choosing The Perfect Aquamarine Engagement Ring

Aquamarines come in a host of different shades. They range from pale blue (almost white) to sea blue with greenish hues. But the best tones are the ones in pastel blue. That colour really hits the sweet spot when it comes to engagement rings. They’re pleasing to the eye and allude a certain sense of calmness.

Aquamarines are transparent stones. It’s fairly easy to make a large, clear Aquamarine stone. That’s how the ore naturally is. So if you come across a stone that’s got inclusions or abrasions, or looks milky, we’d recommend you look for another.

For something as beautiful and pleasing as an Aquamarine, a thin but sturdy band will look perfect. Most of our Aquamarine engagement rings come with a 1.5mm band. There’s a sense of delicateness to its appearance, but it’s sturdy and strong too.

Aquamarines are typically easily available in larger sizes. In fact, as you go below 5mm, the pastel blue shade tends to fade out, leaving a pale blue hue. Bigger sizes allow for the colour to really show its charm, and also evenly spread out. It also helps that a bigger stone helps with proportions of the ring itself, giving a more balanced look.
